Photo's of Siem Reip, Cambodia

The following photo's are taken during the 5 days we spent up in Siem Reip. Sadly we were all sick during this time - but we still did plenty once we got over the first (worst) day.

My sick little girl - the vomiting started in the middle of the night...and sadly continued on the bus!

This little guy/girl was begging at the bottom of the bus steps....of course we helped him/her out - such a difficult life for so many of the darling children....

This was the bus we took - looks great really but, even though air-conditioned - it was still really hot!

Graham trying to find something that all our stomach's could cope with!

don't you love where 'Suixi bear' spent a LOT of the holidays (well at least the traveling part!)...

just some photo's of the surroundings...

Long story - but we ended up with the Honeymoon suite....and only one bed! :)

The rooftop pool at 'The River City Hotel' Siem Riep

Including a special area to relax and look out over the town....

The river that runs through the heart of Siem Riep...

Crazy busy market place!

What more could a girl want....tiny teddy biscuits and drawing!

some fun with daddy in the pool...

two very hot girls! (temperature that is!)

one of the many sights around the market....a child with a child :(

asleep in the Honeymoon bed!

just a cute shot....

hair blowing in the breeze in the Tuk Tuk...

some of the images around Siem Riep..

monkey's on the road on the way out to Angkor Wat

....such a vast difference between the poor and the wealthy.....

our first photo at Angkor Wat

I love this photo of the water lilies in the water in front of Angkor Wat...

Angkor Wat in all it's (very hot) glory!....

Now these are some of the photo's taken around Angkor Wat - an amazing place steeped in History....but as far as we're concerned it's 'been there, done that' - no need to go back!

I do really admire some of the architecture...even though I'm much more of a scenery person...

These steps show the amount of use they have had....and it's plenty!

some little guys learning to become Monks VERY young...

Daddy and daughter walking around the ruins...

more family photo's at Angkor Wat....

the walkway over to Angkor Wat

the entry to Angkor Thom

and Angkor Thom itself....

believe it or not - the trend over there (even in the stinking heat) is to wear pajamas....all day!

some more of the amazing architecture...

aren't children amazing - they just have fun no matter where they live...or how they live!

Our little girl enjoying a Tuk Tuk ride

Some more of the sights at Angkor Thom

If you look closely you'll see how worn the steps are...let along how skinny and deep they are!

Then it was the most amazing of them all to me - Ta Prohm....

Then it was back to some lunch....

One very familiar sight in Asia....

Some relief from the heat!....

This is also a familiar sight.....the local rubbish pick up with a babe suspended over the rubbish...

This evening we took a trip out to a 'floating village'. These are some of the sights.....it was amazing.

On the way out there is some very basic living conditions....

on the boat....

I don't think you'd get me to swim in this water!

This is one of the many 'shacks' on the water....how do they do it???

and this is their basket ball court....

This 'home' was more 'established'!

and here's a bit of an overview of one very small portion of the village...

This little man would call this 'home'...

One of the more 'colourful' homes.....

The schoolroom on a boat

One of the gorgeous children that live on the school boat

And this darling little man was putting the feed in for the crocodiles! (which we got to view)

I gave this lady a tiny $1US (I so wish I had given more now) - and to see this smile on her face spoke more than words ever could. One measly $. I'm almost ashamed.

Then it was back to 'reality' and dinner...

Fancy fish nibbling at the dead skin on your feet? Interesting sensation let me tell you :)

Siem Riep at it's best....

The City River Hotel where we stayed - it was lovely....

Last breakfast in Siem Reip...

A familiar sight in most Asian country's....

I had to laugh at this sign :)

Another all too familiar site....a family relocating

This dear little guy/girl was waiting outside our bus for any 'offerings'. This time a was more generous :)

One exhausted little girl after a harrowing few days of being sick - but coping all the same!

Then back to the city of Phnom Phen....

So ends that part of our journey. We all did suffer quite a bit with being sick. But somehow, after the first day of just lying low, we managed to soldier on and enjoy ourselves immensely. An amazing part of Cambodia. Not sure I'd go back there, but we're so glad we did go.
