Tasmania Day 2

8th May
We were treated to wonderful scrumptious bacon, eggs, tomatoes and mushrooms this morning - thanks to Ewan! (and Anita for buying them all!). What a way to start the day :). It was so beautiful to see the sun peaking its way through the trees just outside our cabin - magnificent actually....

no need for words!

Just outside our cabin

Outside our cabin...with the toilet block just in view...the one where I was sure there would be a boogie man! :)

The grounds and Cabins around Waldheim....

There is so much history here. We headed from our cabin to a newly built (but built exactly as original) cabin where we listened to some history and took some photo's. It was like steping back into the colonial era. The area we stayed in was the Waldheim Cabins and it is so called because of Mr Waldheim and his wife who are long, long dead now! Very interesting story - but my memory of the facts isn't brilliant because I'm not too good at the facts and it's hard to concentrate with a 3yo around!

From there we went to have a look at Dove Lake - one of the features of Cradle Mountain. I would have loved to go for a walk, but it was just too windy for Eb.

Dove Lake....

We then visited the information centre and had a look around. I bought Eb a lovely warm hat and a book on the Tasmanian Devil.

We headed on our way to Hobart, but stopped at a delicious Honey Farm and bought up on a few goodies...and indulged in a totally delicious honey ice cream! It was so yummy!

Honey ice-cream...yum!

The trip was a good and interesting one where we saw much of the beauty of the countryside. We stopped in a magnificent place for lunch as you'll see......

Eb fell asleep not too far from Hobart and then woke to a sleep terror ... so the rest of the trip to Hobart wasn't much fun for any of us. She cried (VERY loudly) most of the way (about 45mins). I was a bit over it all when we arrived at our accommodation which was a bit sad because it was great accommodation. The views were amazing. Sensational views of the harbour and Wrest Point Casino in the distance. We got Indian take away for dinner and then all went to bed exhausted. Eb thankfully slept really well again (still in the cot!).
